Anti-Icing / De-Icing

As part of AVA's commercial property management, we utilizes a number of anti-icing and de-icing products based on customer needs and weather conditions.

Sodium Chloride (Salt)
When road surface temperatures are between 0 and -10 degrees Celsius, salt is used to melt accumulated snow and ice.

Pickle Mix (3% salt, 97% fine gravel)
When road surfaces are below -5 degrees Celsius, a sanding chip mixture is used.

All sanding trucks are equipped with automatic controls that spread a fixed amount of salt or sanding chip mixture depending on road conditions.
Road Guard 8 (Calcium Chloride brine solution)
When snow is predicted, a calcium chloride, anti-icing solution is applied as a pre-wetting agent. This environmentally-friendly compound helps prevent ice and snow from accumulating on the road during a snowfall. This anti-icing agent is equipped with highly effective corrosion inhibitors.

AVA’s anti-icing and de-icing products have a lower corrosion rate than rock salt or sodium chloride and are able to effectively melt snow and ice up to temperatures of -45ËšC (-49°F).
